How to find the right part for your bike
Know what to replace and when
Drivetrains wear in sequence: chain first (around every 2,000 to 3,000 miles), then cassette and chainrings. Brake pads often need changing once or twice a season if you ride regularly. Tyres should go when the tread has gone or the sidewalls crack. Bar tape, cables and cleats are quick wins for refreshing the ride before peak season.
Check compatibility before you buy
Frame design, drivetrain brand, drivetrain speed (10, 11 or 12-speed), brake type, axle standard and bottom bracket all need to match what’s already fitted. Your bike spec sheet is the quickest way to check.
Upgrade vs replace
Like-for-like keeps it simple, but replacing a worn part is also the perfect time to upgrade. A lighter wheelset, a higher-tier groupset or a carbon finishing kit can transform the feel of your bike. Just make sure the upgrade has all the supporting parts it needs. For example, a new groupset usually means a new chain, cassette and shifters too.
